Billy Joe Sword Obituary

Billy Joe Sword, a resident of Memphis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the age of 68. Born in New Albany, Indiana, Billy was known for his warm heart, spirited personality, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community. 

Billy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, embodying the values of honor and commitment.

 Billy's greatest joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren, Anderson, Enzo, and Joseph Sword. His love for the great outdoors was matched only by his love for his family, and he could often be found sharing his passion for nature with them.

He is survived by his devoted sons, Alan Sword (Jea)  and Jason Sword (Erica). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Anderson, Enzo, and Joseph, who will remember him as a devoted grandfather and a guiding light in their lives.

Billy is preceded in death by his  his parents Paul and Violet Sword, his beloved spouse Mary Kaye Sword, his sister Paula Sword Langly, and his step-father Gary England. His memory will indelibly live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service to honor Billy's life will follow at 6:00 pm at the same location.
