Sandra Pamela Jackson, 82, peacefully entered eternal life on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her home in Pekin, Indiana. Born on October 24, 1941, to the late Cortez Caesar and Ruth Lindon (Millard) in Bonnie Blue, Virginia, Sandra's journey was marked by a profound dedication to education and the nurturing of young minds.
In 1968, Sandra brought her passion for education to Southern Indiana, leaving behind Eastern Kentucky to pursue her career. Throughout her illustrious career, she served diligently in various capacities at East Washington, West, Clark, and Greater Clark schools. Sandra's commitment to education was not merely a profession but a vocation, a calling she embraced wholeheartedly.
A proud member of the Delta Kappa Gamma fraternity and the Indiana State Teachers Association, Sandra epitomized the values of scholarship and lifelong learning. Her influence extended beyond the classroom as she became an integral part of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church community, where her musical talents shone brightly as the church organist.
In her precious moments of leisure, Sandra found joy in sharing her love for the arts, particularly through piano lessons and her enthusiastic support of cultural experiences like the Nutcracker ballet. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the minds she inspired, and the melodies she brought to life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Irvin Jackson and by her brothers, Ronald and Wade Lindon.
Survivors include her daughter, Keisha Reschar of Pekin, Indiana and her 5 grandchildren, Josh, Alexandria, Kelsey, K.C. and Christian, her 6 great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Maverick, Aaryn, Grayson, Elijah, Brogan and Amilia “Mia.” Sandra also leaves 8 nieces, 9 nephews and 7 great-nephews to cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Miller Cemetery.
